I have undergrad 2.93 and grad 3.26. The difference is huge when considering the 10-90% ranges of some schools (yale,booth,etc). What does the adcom do in this case? Do they just take the mean or focus more on the undergrad gpa? I would think they follow on more recent scores but with no statistics from anywhere on their "grad gpa range" i dont know what do think here.... thanks

They focus on undergrad GPA because it's something they can benchmark against other applicants - not everyone has gone to grad school (in fact most haven't). Also, it's usually the case that undergrad programs grade on a steeper curve than grad school (the material in grad school may be more advanced, but the grading isn't as harsh).

ah i see. so does a grad degree worth much in terms of my overall application or a better undergrad gpa from another student still trumps?
