Hello,
I am currently an undergrad Electrical Engineering Major at Univ. of Texas @ Dallas. I have approximately 1 year left before I graduate, and I am planning on applying to a B school for my MBA very soon after graduation. I will give some information about my statistics below. Please let me know what my chances will be in entering the top MBA schools and how I should proceed in improving my chances.
Demographics:
27/M/Hispanic-Latino
Education:
Current GPA in Electrical Engineering : 3.49 ,
I anticipate my graduation GPA to be slightly higher approx. 3.6-3.7
I have a prestigious STEM (Science Tech. Engineering Math) scholarship from the Department of Defense, which pays for all tuition and provides a stipend in return for a 3 years of civilian service.
Leadership:
I have helped found a club on campus (Renewable Energy Club Founding Member and officer)
Involved in the the local student engineering club(IEEE) and can attain an officer position quickly.
Work Experience:
I have co-owned a small business with family. (Which went belly up a few months after I departed) - 2 years
I have had 2 summers of internship experience working on Space Systems for a branch of the DoD.
Upon graduation I will continue working on Space Systems in the Acquisitions/Systems Engineering fields at the same DoD facility for at least 3 years. I will want to work on my MBA during this time 3 year time frame.
Other work experience is non relevant in retail.
Schools I am looking at:
Anderson, HAAS, Stanford, Harvard,Sloan
I anticipate my GMAT's to be at least 700.
I am hoping to get into the consulting/technology/aerospace/government field after graduation. Any insight on which schools are good for any of these 4 categories would be great.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and providing your feedback!
