Hi everyone!
I have read some of the posts and have a decent idea of how to go about stuff regarding GMAT and admissions. But I am looking for some general advise on potential routes that I should take to succeed in GMAT and for setting reasonable aspirations.
About Me:
I don't have the greatest of academic backgrounds but I have always done reasonably well. For the first time in my life I got aspired by various things and I want to dream big. Here goes!
UG: Anna University in India B.Tech I.T-85% no GPA
GRE:1450(Verbal Section was my forte;Quants -a battle lost to over confidence
I spent 15 days (3 hrs each) maybe for prep)
PG: University of Utah MS in CS-GPA->3.8(doing my thesis now)
Experience: Intel corporation-Intern-8 months -California,Worked as Resarch Assistant in a research group at my University, worked as Teaching Assistant for a professor in my University(I don't know if all these count)
Is it a reasonable expectation to land up in one of the very best b schools provided I am ready to put in my best efforts for GMAT ? I am driven by recognition and I tend to exceed expectations when I have short term goals and when I am enthusiastic. On the downside I lose interest in things soon ,if the tunnel is too long and I don't see any signs of a light yet!
I have papers published in IEEE. I have a handful of awards from technical international conferences and inter-collegiate events. I have been a top grosser in my college winning awards for my final year project and mini project. I have some research experience up my sleeve.
I have done some charity work here in California.
What I Expect out of an MBA degree:
1)Understand the big picture of Markets and how they work to the minute details
2)Understand how an Organization works and set their vision/mission
3)Be able to drive and co-ordinate large scale technical projects with management and technical innovations
4)Be able to understand organizational team structures and innovate on that
These are the kind of primary goals I have, though I could go on writing a 1000 word essay on what I look to learn! Guess that would be too boring for the sake of this evaluation (:D)
Please advise me what kind of scores should I aim for(ideal would be 800 and I am the kind of person who would back myself to get it). What kind of institutions should i look into? I am willing to put in some solid time into the preparation (something like 6 months).
Thank you for your time!
