How To Get The Study Material Required For Preparation [#permalink] New post 29 May 2008, 04:37
Hello ,

I am very new to GMAT , and am planning for GMAT in 3 months time. I have become member of this club today itself and have spent almost 5 hrs till now in reading the posts. The posts gave me an awareness about the books to study and have listed down the books (must have). The concluded list goes like:
1. Kaplan 800
2. Manhattan GMAT Books - All maths and sentence correction
3. Official Guide 11th ed.
4. OG Verbal and Math Supplements

But i am stuck with following queries and would request you to show me the path:

1. From where to buy these books
2. Are these books sufficient or should i add few more book to my list. If yes then please suggest the names.
3. Is Kalpan 800 a good book to start or i should look for Kaplan Premiere or Princeton Review.

Thanks

Try Amazon.

I would replace Kaplan w/Princeton Review. PR is a very good primer. From there, try the first third of each section on OG and the supplements. Then move on to the Manhattan GMAT stuff then finish up the OG + supps.

That's a good order. If you need more work, do the 1000 series.

Thanks alot Kidderek for the suggetion.. I will certainly try out the Princeton and also the order mentioned by you.. I m not in touch with studies since 3 yrs and little weak in quant. So i m little worried whether i will be able to make up to good score of 700+ or not ( thats what i aim for ). Would you please help me , when ever i have any doubt or m not clear abt how to go ahead?

I will order for the books today itself so that i can start up with my preparation asap.. I m highly motivated right now as i see scoring high is a big challenge but at the very same time scared whether will be able to do it.. Would request for your guidance...

Once again thanks...

Check out that thread. Someone was selling books online for $90 for the set. I search on amazon to figure out how good of a deal it was an decided to buy them online at amazon new for the same price. I have links to each book in my post on that thread.

I would agree with Kidderek...do Princeton Review instead of Kaplan. I liked the strategies better, but the tests in particular are MUCH better. They're adaptive, while Kaplan tests are not.
