How to improve from Q44 (MGMAT) to Q48 in 2-3 weeks? [#permalink]
02 Sep 2013, 01:57
having gone through the MGMAT quant guides and done all the suggested OG problems, I took the MGMAT CAT and scored a Q44. Though this is not a stellar result, I am confident that it is a solid starting point and with some more review and practice I will hopefully be able to reach Q48+. My test is 3 weeks from now and I would like to dedicate 2 weeks entirely to quant and 1 week to verbal. What are your suggestions on how I should practice quant throughout the next two weeks? Is it reasonable to improve from Q44 to Q48 within 2 weeks or should I reschedule by 1-2 weeks? I already read the "How to improve your quant score"-post and it is truly helpful, just wondering if you have some more advice for this particular case.
Some insights on my weaknesses:
The assessment report showed that I struggle with DS questions. In the range of 600-700, I only got 43% of the DS questions correct and didn't receive any 700+ questions. With regards to PS problems, I have to focus on 600+ problems: I got 100% of all problems in the range of 300-600 correct, but only 75% of the 600-700 problems and only 38% of the 700-800 problems.
According to topics my weaknesses seem to be in number properties (in particular divisibility & primes) and word problems (in particular consecutive integers, overlapping sets, statistics). There is also room for improvement in geometry (circles & cylinders and triangles & diagonals). On the other hand, I am fairly strong in algebra and fractional, decimals & percents.
For now my plan is to spend 4-5 days going through the guides again, reviewing concepts, and doing all the error logs problems from the OG again. Then I am planning to go through the problems sets posted here on the forum as well as Bunuel's solutions and posts, particularly with regards to my weak areas.
Do you think this will be sufficient? I would really appreciate if you could give me some hints on what materials to use for further practice and tips what to consider during the final three weeks now.
Thank you very much in advance!
