I have a 6 month baby at home and I feel guilty if I do not play an active parent role. My spouse has been very supportive, she understands that I need some space to prepare for GMAT. But the guilt feeling exists.
In this scenario, what is the best way to not lose the momentum while preparing for GMAT? I am only able to devote 1 hour (max 2 hour) daily and sometimes I miss studying on weekend.
Please GMATCLUBIANS i need help from you guys.....
Hi there Musicnlyrx,
I too have been preparing for the GMAT for a little over a month. It's definitely easy to lose focus and get distracted, and sometimes I feel like maybe I just need a break. And I think that's okay.
Try to create a schedule, and stick with it. Let your wife know your study schedule ahead of time, and see if you can go to a library to study, or just find earplugs (for the screaming unhappy baby that misses daddy) and study in a room whilst your wife spends time with the baby in another room.
I also happen to be a father of a newborn (9 months old... but also have a 7 year old) and I don't feel guilty at all! :D Maybe that's the
real sign of being a bad parent.
I also have a supportive wife, and she understands I need the time to study; so, despite the fact that she goes to school and works, she tries her best to give me time here and there where I can be productive studying. It's been a busy hectic month for us and I'm sure that's the case for you as well. Just hang in there until the exam date!
