Hi Sumant,

You have a decent profile. If you are seriously passionate about your MBA from top 20/30 Business Schools then I would suggest you to work hard on your GMAT. Start your preparation soon for your GMAT. To get admit into top B-School you need to target 700+. You can make your application more strong by submitting a good essay and working hard on your application and interviews. Most of the Business Schools see a combination of all these things to grant an admission. You can also download this GMAT test Tool http://bit.ly/TZTsle and start taking such kind of GMAT tests.

As per your profile I would also suggest you to target B-Schools like Chicago Booth, Stanford, University of Notre Dame, Rice University, University of Rochester(Simon), Washington University these are among the top US B-Schools focused more on finance, where you can apply. There are many more but the mentioned list comprises of a few good ones in the US that you should definitely target. It is highly advisable in your case to focus on your application evaluation essays. This is where you can demonstrate your leadership qualities, achievements, professional vision and other abilities. A well presented and perfectly written essay is absolutely critical to make a strong case for yourself during the final interview.

You should also get your essays reviewed from them before sending it along with your application to better your prospects. You can refer http://bit.ly/dDfAMyto get an idea on B-School essay writing.

Feel free to post any other query or concern that you might have.

Cheers!

Since you seem to be planning for a stint abroad, i must warn you that your experience is on the short side and not relevant in the US scheme. That just means other asects of your application have to be perfect. The MBA rankings aalysis posted by bb and souvik ina separate thread are however most comprehensive in terms of improving your chances to get in. once you do that ony you will be in a position to demand your choice of discipline.

However another important part of your Fin apps nowadays will be the available presentations and MOOCs on Mathematical Finance and taking a choice project if you are still studying or back at your school with your favorite professors. If I was recruiting i would not be able to say no to that profile ..Imprtantly ths Mathematical finance is tough and even if you think you understand you need to study it more than 2-3 times to be able to make an impact with it, thus allowing you to use them in interviews. ideally you can just choose select issues and champion the real issues with the right tools from the available ones, showing your analytical skills an discretion as well and then making it an integral part of your essay .
