How to review verbal questions? [#permalink] New post 13 Jan 2013, 23:11
Hello all,

Please help me understand how do we review verbal questions after a verbal drill. Experts suggest that we spent 60% time reviewing questions. But how do we do it. Seeing the same question again and again I only end up muggin it up. so how do I judge my answers when i'm solving the same question next time. Silly as it may sound but really need help.

Thanks

For every question you need to figure out why the correct option works and why the other four do not work. If there is a concept involved that you do not understand fully, you need to review it from a book. Two sentences in the solution will not be enough. Thereafter, you need to remember to practice some more questions based on the same concept. Also, you may want to take notes on the concept in your log book. The point is that you need to try to learn from every question you do. No point doing questions just for the sake of doing them.

Most of the time we know that certain option is incorrect. However unless you can give specific reasons as to why that option is incorrect you are not learning fully from that problem. The reason why a particular option is wrong may not help much on a specific problem but on a different problem the same concept can help you zero in on the right solution. Moreover one option can be incorrect due to more than 1 reason. When you look at how experts dissect a problem you would see that they have a concrete reason for every decision. Having said that Donot get hung up on a single problem. That is Donot spend 20 30 mins on a single problem. You can miss some concepts and still score 720.
