Can you tell me whether it would be advantageous to spend the most of the time on the first 10 questions in each section, to get the best score, since it sounds like the first 10 questions are the most important?

Yes, the first 10-15 questions affect your score the most. Also, if you get easy questions wrong, it has a significant negative effect on the score. if you get a series of questions wrong, that too reduces the score.

that said, i dont think you should spend MOST of the time on the first 10 questions. many many guys have done that and finally ended up guessing on the last 5-6 questions.

Sure, be careful, but do that for all the questions. if you are looking for a 49-50 on the quant, you need to do consistently well, not just on the first 10.

Just to add that do not spend too much time on the first 10 questions and waste valuable time on questions that you might not be sure to get right anyways in the first place. In some circumstances, guesstimating will pay off. Strike the right balance!

once you get most of 1st 10 questions right, you are generally in the tougher qs category. Most of the remaining 25-30 qs you get would be tough, so you need more time for each of the remaining qs too. And if you slip up, your score goes down slowly but surely. So it is important to keep a tab on your timings for the entire test. Sure the 1st 10 qs are important, but you cant slip too much.
