Humanities Major with Some Business Courses...Need More? [#permalink] New post 04 Aug 2011, 13:00
I was an English & Philosophy double major at my undergrad school so I've been thinking about taking some quant-based online courses (maybe a finance course and an accounting course) to bolster my resume a bit. I did take a few business courses at undergrad though so not sure if I really need to add more. Courses I took:

Principles of Microeconomics (A-)
Principles of Macroeconomics (A)
Decision Science/Business Statistics (B+)
Financial Accounting (B)
Calculus for Business Applications (B+)
Culture of Business in France (A-)

Any suggestions?

You may want to look at calculus again, not for business, but just general freshman calculus. Otherwise, your quant courses should be well-covered. Your quant score in GMAT may be a bit problematic, but I think it can be overlooked given some other positive parts of the application.

You're very welcome. The key takeaway is this: there are so many factors that will play either a major or a minor role on your application. I dare to say that essays, grades, work experience and GMAT make up a big chunk of the major role. But there are also other key factors on the application that can help push an applicant over to the acceptance pile: letters of recommendation, family name, extracurricular activities, honors, awards, etc. It's really hard to gauge at a specific one and say if it needs improvement, because the other factors may just as well compensate for a lacking in another place.

Good luck!!
