Hybrid MBA programs (online + classroom) - WSJ Article [#permalink] New post 26 Jul 2010, 20:39
Expert's post
WSJ just published an interesting article about Hybrid MBA programs that combine 3 things:
1. Online component
2. limited classroom interaction
3. Strong brand name

I don't think i would mind getting a "hybrid" mba from Kellogg, booth, or HBS instead of a traditional in-class setting
Babson, Duke, and Tepper offer these programs. On the flip side, the requirements to get in are less stringent (Babson does not require GMAT), and this inflates the number of alumni to quite a bit of a number who probably are not feeling very much being a part of a program and thus won't be a dedicated alum. At the end the brandname of a school will erode. That's my take. I think it is a bad idea.
