Question Stats:

40% (02:45) correct 60% (01:52) wrong based on 0 sessions
I am in the process of packing boxes onto my lorry (truck). I cannot load box A onto the lorry because that would exceed the maximum weight allowance. On the other hand, if I unloaded box B from the lorry, I would be able to load box C on to the lorry without exceeding the allowance.

Which of the following must be true?

I. If I didn't unload any boxes (including box B), then I wouldn't be able to load box C onto the lorry.
II. The remaining weight that can be loaded onto the lorry must be at least as big as the difference in weight between boxes B and C.
III. The weight of box A must be bigger than the difference in weight of boxes B and C
A) I only
B) II only
C) III only
D) I and II only
E) II and III only

Let say the maximum allowed weight is W.

"cannot load box A onto the lorry because that would exceed the maximum weight allowance"..so

I feel the statements option I & II combined is right.

I is already explained.

II because its true that If box B was removed a difference of C-B could be loaded on to the lorry. Since C < A but C > B. Difference of C-B is positive so there is definitely more space for more boxes of weight of the difference.

I go for A.

Statement II would not hold in the following situation:
If B weighs 10Kg
Remaining is 1Kg
C can weighs from 1.1Kg to 11Kg
