I wouldn't ask Duke unless I was serious about UCLA. I think your decision should be more about your happiness based on location/fit/career prospects, rather than tuition rate.

Well, in this case, the fact that your wife got a nice job offer actually solves the dilemma.
It is just my personal opinion, but I think I would go to Duke so that I can be with my wife.
After all, her CA salary in NC should be able to help the financial strain.

Let me make this more complicated and confusing than before...
My wife got a kick ass offer from one of the top companies in RTP nrar Duke. She will be making a California Hi-tech salary in North Carolina. Options suck. We never thought we will think about having a long distance relationship while I attend school. Now, we don't know what to do.

No offense, but in my book you would have to save alot more money than what you're saving to make a two year long distance relationship worth the while. Especially if she's making major bank.

Defn talk to Duke and see what they say. You have nothing to lose! (Especially given that their yield is quite low)

Yeah I agree! Considering yu have West-Coast experience, I would recommend Duke.

And long distance is just so rough on any relationship - any relationship, no matter how strong, will face a severe strain when faced with commuting. You want b-school and you want a marriage --- put an entire continent between them and it's guaranteed that both will suffer.

(yeah, i know, i am probably projecting, but man, this is your marriage and your entire b-school experience. what's a few grand next to that? And i am cheap, and am almost always turned by saving a buck or two.)
