Clubbers,
Wondering about the best I-bank resources to get familiar with the industry, culture, and lifestyle. Can you talk about the resources used both prior to acceptance at B school and also at B school? Additionally, would like to know who has made a successful career transition, ie you were not an I-banker before MBA.

M&I is a solid resource, as is wallstreetoasis. I'd say 80-90% of the people recruiting into banking from the MBA level were not in banking pre-MBA. That is to say, almost every story of someone getting a job in banking will be one of a successful career transition (myself included).

Read Vault guides, Monkey Business and other books (look in the B-School life books list for more). In reality, you get the most idea of what the life is like and what it will be like for you during recruitment and speaking to people in the year ahead of you at school. Particularly the second - they are very fresh on how the summer experience will be and what works best to get offers.

The big cash you study about in the press only goes into the pouches of a choose few in financial institutions.
