I don't know where it went wrong [#permalink] New post 09 Dec 2010, 22:50
After preparing for almost a 5 months .. I finally gave the GMAT yesterday : the score was much below expected. Q35 V23 Overall490. I don't really know what went wrong, as I was consistently scoring a 600 on gmatprep Tests.

I had my applications ready for Harvard and Tuck, waiting for the GMAT, but now feel that it will be a waste of money to apply with this score. I am wondering if I should retake the GMAT (I believe i have no other choice anyway), but dont really know what am MISSED.

ANY IDEAS ON WHERE TO TO START ???

It sounds like you got a tough break if you were consistently in the 600s during prep. Did the testing conditions get to you?

I would definitely recommend a retake since your GMATPrep were significantly higher. I think you have to wait 30 days before you re-write it so keep studying. If you're not already using the MGMAT guides I would highly recommend them. Also, if you're not already simulating a full test experience (AWA, 8-minute breaks and all) then you should do that as well.

Don't give up hope. Everyone faces a few bumps along the way. Persistence will eventually pay off. Wish you the best!

Tough luck. These things happen.
It is best to give the exam again after more preparation and apply with a higher score because with this score you will not do justice to yourself by applying to HBS and Tuck (need 700+ to be competitive at either school). Hope you get a better score next time. Good luck!
