Hi
I would start by giving my background. I graduated in 2009 with an engineering degree and then worked in a big MNC for 5 years before quitting the job and moving to another country. This move was a personal one and I miscalculated my employment chances. I'm taking GMAT to get in a good school and finish my MBA finally. I'm listing down my queries for the experts, should they choose to answer it:
1. Is having a 2 year gap after quitting my job a bad thing for applications to top schools like INSEAD?
2. I'm trying to get in INSEAD Jan'17 program the second round of admissions for the same will start by April. Looking at my mock score is it possible for me to aim for a better score by then?

What else do I need to keep in mind? I dont know if this post makes it clear, but I'm pretty desperate to get in INSEAD Jan'17 program as I believe it will be too late for me if I stay unemployed any longer.

To sort out your admission questions, you can get a free profile evaluation here: https://www.gmatclub.com/forum/veritas-prep-resource-links-no-longer-available-399979.html#-school/

To make the best of the situation, you will need to think about how you have been adding value in the last 2 years. Your essays should be compelling and sincere. You might want to discuss with a specialist.
Our head consultant of INSEAD team is Edison. Check out his profile here: https://www.gmatclub.com/forum/veritas-prep-resource-links-no-longer-available-399979.html#-admissio ... A_Programs

As for GMAT, a 50 point score improvement should be do-able in four weeks considering you can invest a decent bit of time every day. Take one more practice test and collate the data of the two tests to find your weaknesses. Work hard on them while you continue practicing questions from your strength areas. Take one practice test every week and analyse it through and through. Hi
Thank you for your encouraging words because I was very disappointed as everyone was telling me it would take atleast 2 month to get a 700+.
I used Aristotle for my SC and that wasn't any helpful as I'm now realising. SC and CR needs practice and in Quant it is the DS thats holding me down.
I will be taking MGMAT mock today and will again post here. Also, I'm very nervous while giving the exam because I need to work majorly on my pace and as a result I keep making mistakes that on review I realise were silly.
Thank you again

Hi MathildaBagshot,

When you take your CATs, it's important to make each of them 'match up' with Test Day in as many ways as possible (so take the FULL CAT - with the Essay and IR sections, take it away from your home, at the same time of day as your Official GMAT, etc.). You should plan to take 1 FULL CAT per week and make sure that you set aside enough time to properly review it.

The study plan you describe appears 'book heavy'; many Test Takers end up getting 'stuck' at a particular score level when using that type of study approach, so you might need to adjust your studies a bit.

1) How did you score on your second CAT (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?
