I got into my dream school!!!!!!! I'm so happy! [#permalink]
28 Feb 2006, 19:03
I just got the call that I was accepted to Kellogg! I'm so excited. This was my first choice school, and since I only got a 650 on the GMAT, I was really worried I wouldn't get into ANY of my choices, let alone the best one!

GOOD JOB!!!!! It's nice to see people with sub-700 scores get into GREAT schools like Kellogg!!!!!! It gives me a lot of hope! Can you give us a little more on your profile?

It was the best call in the world!
Here's a little more about me:
26 yo female, Brazilian-American
fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, high level of French
graduated from Tufts University with double major in Intl. Relations and Spanish
GPA 3.24
My work experience has mainly been in international sales within book publishing. have worked for harper collins and have been at my current job at another major publisher for 2.5 years where I've had 3 promotions
I also have been pursuing a master of science in Publishing at NYU where I have a 3.7 GPA
extensive international experiences including a year abroad in Spain
So that's a loose picture. Kellogg was my top choice, and I'm so happy to have been accepted. I applied to an unusually large number of schools and haven't heard back from any of them yet, except for the Thunderbird/Esade dual degree program (I was accepted). Also applied to Fuqua, UCLA, Stern, Tuck, and UMich.

No, I've had almost 4 years of experience (I've been at my current employer for 2.5 years)
thanks everyone. I worked so hard this year -- it finally paid off.

I have a very difficult decision to make and I don't know what to do!!! I would appreciate everyone's input.
My first-choice school was Kellogg, and I was thrilled to have been accepted. However, I was just offered (through the Consortium) a full scholarship to UMich.
On one hand, it's hard for me to give up my dream to go to Kellogg, but on the other, I wonder how much of a difference there really is (in terms of prestige, job opportunity, etc.) between the two schools. I haven't heard yet about my award package from Kellogg, but I doubt it will be anywhere near a half- or full-tuition package.
My goal when I come out is to enter a CPG in brand management. What are your thoughts? I would love to hear your opinion. Oh -- and I've visited Kellogg (loved it), but haven't seen Ross yet. I will be attending both admitted students' weekends.
Thanks for any input you guys can give me!

Northwestern/Kellogg is the leader in terms of prestige and placements (not a big surprise considering it is in a higher cluster than Ross). If placements and prestige are your only criteria, Kellogg is easily the criteria-specified victor between these two schools. However, Michigan is an outstanding school as well and, like Kellogg, has an extenisve alumni base.
To state the obvious, the two pieces of information that would really help the decision are the award offer from Kellogg and your impressions of Michigan when you visit there.
