i guess i need to refresh my idiom list

Unlike Christians, Jews only see Jesus as a prophet; they do not think of him as a messiah, nor do they view him as the son of God.

A) nor do they view him
B) but they do not view him
C) neither do they view him
D) and they neither view him
E) while viewing him neither

We can straight rule out B,D and E. Need explanations for choosing between A and C.
[ B - this is not a comparison so not X but Y is not the correct idiom, E - sentence is not related to time and comma rules D]

IMO A.

B,D,E are out as explained above.
its not X, nor its Y .... A is good.
its not X, neither its Y .... B is wrong.

A.

you must use nor (not or) when negating the second of two negative independent clauses.

Agree. Another mnemonic is if neither appears nor should appear. But the vice versa is not mandatory. That means nor can appear by itself as APG already explained.
