Since all dogs are animals, and cats are animals, then all cats are dogs.
Which of the following parallels the reasoning in the passage above?
A. All men are human beings, and children are human beings. Therefore
all men are children.
B. All children are human beings, and some men are children. Therefore
all men are human beings.
C. Some men are heavy, and some men are tall. Therefore all tall men
are heavy.
D. Some animals are dogs, and some animals are cats. Therefore all dogs
and cats are animals.
E. All cats are animals, and some animals are dogs. Therefore some
animals could be cats or dogs.

IMO A.

All X ---> Z; Y --->Z so All X= Y.

Only A satisfies this logic.

Dont you think "A" should have been written as
A. All men (X)are human(Z) beings, and children(Y) are human(Z) beings. Therefore
all children(Y) are men(X).

Which of the following parallels the reasoning in the passage above?
A. All men are human beings, and children are human beings. Therefore
all men are children. This is wrong, should be therefore all children are men
B. All children are human beings, and some men are children. Therefore
all men are human beings. This is wrong, should be therefore some men are human being.
C. Some men are heavy, and some men are tall. Therefore all tall men
are heavy. This is wrong, can not conclude all tall men are heavy, based on the condition.
D. Some animals are dogs, and some animals are cats. Therefore all dogs
and cats are animals. This is wrong, can not conclude all dogs and cats based on some.
E. All cats are animals, and some animals are dogs. Therefore some
animals could be cats or dogs. This is the correct answer in my opinion.
