I'm not going to get all dramatic and share how depressed I am with my GMAT score. What I would really appreciate is some useful insight regarding all possible options I have with this horrific score, 570 (Q-48,V-21)
So I'm looking for people who have experience in the finance industry and are working in an investment bank. I'm keen on doing a Masters in Financial Engineering (MFE) at NUS or NTU. Apart from these two, I'm also considering Baruch College, New York and University of Toronto. I'm interested in a full time course.
I have a degree in B.E (Information Technology) from Pune University. I don't really understand how the whole GPA thing works, so I'll just mention my aggregate, that's 58% (Final year is First Class, 60%+).
Class X (82%) and XII (85%) - C.B.S.E (Delhi board).
Currently I'm working as a Senior Engineer -Development at SunGard Financial Systems. I work on C/C++,Unix,Databases and my work revolves around development/maintenance of financial products. My total experience till date is 4 years in the same organization.
So the million dollar question is, do I need to re appear for GMAT or maybe I can try my luck with 570.
What is your view on this particular course mentioned above and what is your view on the current job market in the finance sector? Where should I look if I want to find jobs requiring an MFE? Any ideas on the starting pay of fresh MFEs from NUS/NTU and the other two universities ? Anyone else thinking of doing an MFE as well?
In case any more details are needed, please feel free to ask me.
Thank you in advance for taking out time. Much appreciated! Hope to read some replies soon.
