I'm prepping for my second shot at the GMAT. As I need to [#permalink] New post 15 May 2008, 21:54
I'm prepping for my second shot at the GMAT. As I need to increase my Quantitative score only, I have been focusing on the OG Quantitative Review to strenghten my math skills. I was encouraged in the GMAT Experience forum to post questions, regardless of level of difficulty, so here goes:

When solving for "x" in the following equation, I need to isolate "x". Can I just flip the factors on both sides of the equation, then multiply both sides by 3?

So, the equation "3/x = 2", becomes "x/3 = 1/2". I can then multiply both sides by 3, to get, "x = 3/2".

Is this correct. Presuming it is correct, should I approach equations with the variable in the denominator in this manner? Thanks.

You should only attach with it the condition that the demoninator can not be 0, then you can do anything!
