I must make a decision?? advice:=) [#permalink] New post 27 Feb 2007, 00:47
Hi all;

I want to make Mscf Fınance but i have some doubts about if i get a good program...
My weak point is GPA:3,3 ,
i think i can get 700+ GMAT
My major is Business Administration and minor is Economics
I have several interns in insurance companies, audit firms and Economic Boards.

Now this is a scenario and i wonder if i can get into good school for Msc Finance. And what are the other conditions to increase the chance?

Please give me some advices to increase my chance about getting into good schools

thanks a lot

First get a 700 on your GMAT, then you will see ;)
Most of the masters in Finance want you to have some work experience, and internships do not count. Also do you have a 3.3 at Harvard, or a 3.3 at a community college?
And what year are you in in college? Is there anything special about your background?

And yes you have a chance at a masters in Finance, it just depends which program you want to go to. Is there any schools in particular you want to go to?

(Some masters in Finance actually look at your internships, but only like 1 in 5)

I think if you approach the process with your strong points, you can get into top 20 - i.e. dont be too sensitive to your GPA or Uni.

Good finance masters would be more interested in how clear you are about your future goals. This way they will find out how well you suit to their program. For example, Master in Financial Economics at Oxford (Said Bus. School) is good for people who wants to do mathematical finance (and wants to work in quantitative finance industry).

Good GMAT score, well informed application, and complementary recommendations can go long way to get you into top 20.

Good luck
