I can confirm that this is true, and it's not just one or two employers either. Have a look at the online applications of some of the most popular MBA employers.

A: so what was your GMAT? B: i got a 770. you? A: i got a 780. yeah i was pretty disappointed that I screwed up on a few questions. B: yeah dude, i was pissed. NOT! this doesn't happen. i know that people said only douchebags talk about this but no, not even them. i'm in the EMBA program so GPA is even less relevant. nobody cares because it was 10 years ago for most students. we do talk about what school you went to and when you graduated but that's not really to gauge how good a person is but to find commonalities (oh! i went there too! did you know so-and-so?) if someone asks about your GMAT score, you should ask them about their PSAT score... RVD.

RVD. I truly hope no one asks me my PSAT score... it was bad... (just moved back from Asia at that point, so my Verbal was crap)

I've already met many of my future classmates, and no one has ever mentioned GPA, GMAT, SAT, etc. Why would you?

DO NOT FEEL as if you are not equal to your peers in anyway even if you are selected by a top school with a low GPA or GMAT score. The Admissions process is way too meticulous for anyone to get into B-SCHOOL without a thorough review of your application. Many of the top schools are eveb hiring companies to verify the accuracy of teh information you submit. So, if they accept you, they REALLY REALLY REALLY want you!
I was speaking with the Admissions team at Harvard on a tour two years ago, and that was the main point the tour guide made: if WE accept you, stop second guessing yourself.
