Hi GMAT Club,

I am rather new to the forum, but I have spent some time reading a few posts and I have to say that I am extremely impressed. I am amazed at the amount of time and energy that so many people spend helping and encouraging each other. I think everyone here who has posted a story of individual difficulty/success, given tips or helped others in some way needs to be applauded.

My issue is that I need to improve my Quantitative Scores. I have been studying for a few months now and I cannot seem to increase my scores beyond the 28 - 30 range. I took the real exam and got a 29, which is horrible. Is there a definitive way that I can add 20 points to that Raw Score? I need to hit the high 40's or early 50's if I expect to have a chance getting into the school of my choice.

I would say, find out which areas are your weakest, and train hard on those. Have you identified those yet?

I am having problems across the board it seems. I don't think it is content based, because I have spent a ton of time reviewing content. My problem areas are:

Data Sufficiency
Sequences
Probability & Combos
Work/Rates
Number Theory

I guess I am trying to identify a different approach. I started out with the MGMAT books and read them cover to cover. I then took a bunch of Px Exams and practice questions, but couldn't seem to improve my score. What I am planning to do is complete the questions on the OG supplemental guide (300Q's) and review every answer. Then I will review the MGMAT books cover-to-cover (for content), and then complete the 11th Ed OG guide's quant section. Following that I will take a Quantitative Px Test. Does any body have any feedback or suggestions related to this strategy?

My suggestion is that you stick to this forum and try and read the approach people take to solving them. When I started studying for the GMAT I was very weak.

However I stuck to the forum and I know for sure that it has helped me raise my score to the high 40s.

I think the trick is to be able to understand the best and fastest approach.

So you can do the following:

1) Visit the forum everyday and attempt as many questions as you can even if you get them wrong.

2) re-visit those questions and look for explanations. I look for certain members who are really good (HongHu (God of Math), ywilfred, professor, giddi..etc.)

3) If you get a question wrong in your practice tests or materials or if you get a answer right by luck, post it on the forum to understand the underlying concept.

Practice!!!!
Don't just read the explanations on the forum.Try to participate in discussions))
And remember MATH is good cause where is only one correct solution
