I still have trouble with the usage of "hope" vs "wish"
Which is correct between the two, one with "that" and one without ? 2)do we use wish or hope ? 3) Do we use past tense "hoped" or present tense "hope" ?
Mary hoped John would resign.
Mary hoped that John would resign.
May wished John would resign
Mary wished that John would resign
Mary wishes that John would resign
Mary wishes John would resign
Mary hopes John would resign
Mary hopes that John would resign
Pls send me any document pertains to the usage of "hope" and "wish", thks.

1) I think the better question is when to use 'that' after the verb. I don't think 'that' has special properties because the verb is 'hope' or 'wish.'
2) I believe wish and hope can be used interchangeably, it's just different verbs with the same meanings
3) The verb tense varies depend on the context. I would study the verb tenses again in the prep books or look for it on this forum.
