A....
B. I went to the Andy's party not only to enjoy but also to see the great monuments of France.
C. I went to the Andy's party not only to enjoy it but also to see the great monuments of France.
D. I went to the Andy's party not only to enjoy it but also saw the great monuments of France.
E. I went to the Andy's party not only for enjoyment but also to see the great monuments of France.

....went ....not only to ....but also to ....is idiomatic --> C is correct.
B changes the original meaning coz " enjoy" is to "enjoy" the party, not "the greaet monuments" --> out

C it is.

And what's the problem with E in particular?

E is unparallel and uses the dreaded passive voice.

Dead set (C).

Re: I went to the Andy's party not only to enjoy it but also [#permalink]
Even i didnt knew i had thrown a party

This is a tough one

A....
B. I went to the Andy's party not only to enjoy but also to see the great monuments of France.
Seems Like enjoyment and sight seeing refers to monuments of France
C. I went to the Andy's party not only to enjoy it but also to see the great monuments of France.
"it" is giving me fears of pronoun reference
D. I went to the Andy's party not only to enjoy it but also saw the great monuments of France.
E. I went to the Andy's party not only for enjoyment but also to see the great monuments of France.
This one only sounds correct to me

Vivek is right. "It" refers to the party. It should be C. 8-)

I think it is C as well. The subject went to enjoy the party and also to see the great monuments of France. It is parallel and concise.

Between B and C, I'll pick B, C is wordy since pronoun "it" can be easily omitted without changing the meaning.

Agreed with vivek's explanation. C it is. Overlooked. Hopefully won't make same mistake on real GMAT.
