Idioms tested frequently on the Gmat?? [#permalink] New post 17 May 2012, 09:24
Hi experts,

My D Day is on the 21st of May,2012. My scores have been..well erratic to say the least. I am struggling with verbal, specifically SC and CR. I just gave my Gmat Prep2 today and got a 600 (Q 47/V27). I scored a 660 on Gmat Prep 1 (Q 44/V 32). On reviewing i found that most of the SCs, which i got wrong were based on idioms. I just wanted to know whether idioms are tested as frequently on the Gmat now?? I would be glad if experts could throw some light on this.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Negative.

In my experience, Idioms are not that important. While you WILL see them on the test, the wrong answers probably will also have some grammatical meaning errors ......no pure idiom based question.....

While I didnt count how many 'meaning' based questions I got, I had the distinct feeling that i was using more 'logic' than pure grammar to solve most of the questions....which in effect means they must've been meaning based questions.....My advice is ....be VERY alert while solving SC....blindly applying rules will not get u anywhere...
