Re: if 8 men can reap 80 hectares in 24 days. How many hectares [#permalink]
Well, i guess i dont even need to write the best way of approaching this problem since Akamai has made it look so simple.

I would although like to add a point here.

I remember one thing while attempting such problems. Know what type of proportion are you dealing with. Inverse or direct.

In the following problem no. hectares is reaped by men is in direct proportion with number of men.

Similarly no. of hectares reaped is in direct proportion with no. of days. More days, more hectares will be reaped.

Hence the solution x = 80 * 36/8 * 30/24.

Just in case if in this problem you would were asked how much time is required to reap 450 hectares by 36 men.

Then the approach would be the same but the difference here would be of proportion between no. of men and time taken. They are in inverse proportion. Less time means more men.

So x = 24 * 450/90 * 8/36.

HTH!!!
