Re: If a and b are positive integers and a divided by b equals 35.24, whic [#permalink]
Option B)

\(\frac{a}{b}\) = 35.24 = 35 +0.24 = 35 + \(\frac{24}{100}\)
:Remainder would come from \(\frac{24}{100}\) = \(\frac{6}{25}\)
:Remainder\((\frac{a}{b})\) = 6

If a and b are positive integers and a divided by b equals 35.24, which of the following could be the remainder when a is divided by b?

A. 3
B. 6
C. 8
D. 10
E. 11

We can sort it as follows:

\(\frac{a}{b} = 35 +\frac{24}{100}\)

Or \(\frac{24}{100} = \frac{6}{25}\)

\(\frac{6 (remainder)}{25 (divisor)}\)

a/b=35.24=35 24/100 or 35 6/26. we see that 6 is remainder, which is the answer

Or, \(\frac{3524}{100}\)

Or, \(\frac{881}{25}\)

Since \(35*25 = 875\) , we will have remainder \(6\) for \(\frac{881}{25}\) , Answer must be (B)
