Question Stats:

Q: If a, b, and c are digits, is (a + b + c) a multiple of 8?

(1) The three-digit number abc is a multiple of 8.
(2) a x b x c is a multiple of 8.

Note: I hate this kind of question. Does anyone have any tips to deal with it?

840=8*105
8+4+0=12<>n8

440=8*55
4+4+0=8=m8

so insuff

S2:
2*4*6=48=8*6
2+4+6=12<>r8

4*2*2=16=8*2
4+2+2=8

so insuff

Together:
888=8*111
8+8+8=n8
8*8*8=x8

168=8*21
1*6*8=y8
1+6+8<>z8

so insuff. E should be the ans

Crazy method unless you are able to pick nos. quickly?
any other method?
