oh, this has been discussed before , but my doubt still remains, i want to know the difference between the usage of would and could. doesn't would sound better here with the right option ? looking at the future from the past , that's the rule for the usage of would .

if were.... relax...buff and watch parallel. C is clean here. Could/ Would I could have owned a Ferrari, if I were rich. I would have owned a Ferrari,if I were rich. Could - essentially shows just an ability. Would - shows more of an intention than the ability. Intentions may or may not be met.Hence would is used in subjunctive cases which are impossible or never happened in the past. 'Could' here shows Robinson's ability here more than his intention thus a better usage.

C because of parallelism- he could eat...relax...buff...and watch. and also the hypothetical if...were construction.

if you have MGMAT SC book, have a look at subjunctive mood. basically, it means that for hypothetical "If I" or "If he/she" construction "were" is used..have a look at Ron's explanation on this link: http://www.manhattangmat.com/forums/sc- ... t9436.html

Good question. I agree that C is correct, but about D, can't we enter a modifier in between in a parallel construction? I mean what is wrong with, "I could eat meat,( while) relaxing on the recliner.."?

+1 C Parallelism. This type of conditionals requires "were", not "was".

Nothing tells you that those all actions are performed at the same time.
