If a rectangular piece of paper is cut into exactly three pieces by making two straight cuts, which of the following could be the total number of edges on the three pieces?

I only got 9, need Akami to post one a drawing.
9, 11, and 12 is right

Hey Curly, why don't you give us all the answer choices?

By making only two straight cuts, I can get exactly 3 pieces with 20 (or even more edges). Really.

Okay. Get a rectangular piece of paper. Grab the top right corner of the paper, then fold diagonally so that the top edge lines up with the left edge. Now grab the top right corner and make a similar fold to the right, so you end up with something like a house.

Now make one horizontal cut directly across the top. Open up the paper and you will have a quadralateral cut out of the paper. Remove the quadralateral and then make a straight cut directly down the center of the paper. YOu will have 3 pieces. One will 4 sides and 2 with 8 sides.

3 dimensional thinking.
