12. If Country X does not intervene militarily in Country Y, then the whole region will definitely fall under enemy influence.

It most logically follows from the statement above that, if Country X does intervene militarily in Country Y, then the whole region.

(A) Will definitely fall under enemy influence

(B) Will probably fall under enemy influence

(C) Will probably not fall under enemy influence

(D) Will definitely not fall under enemy influence

(E) May or may not fall under enemy influence

The answer is E - why?

The stimulus says that if counry X does not intervene militarily in Country Y, then the whole region will definitely fall under enemy influence.

But, we don't know what will happen when country X does intervene.
So, it may fall or may not fall under enemy influence.

Hope this helps

Both C and E are good. I dont know how to choose E over C unless some English prof comes and explains the difference between the two.

You should have added B also in your list. I don't see much difference between C and B also.

B and C implies that you are more inclined towards one of the two possibilities being that country X will probably fall or not fall under ennemy influence. Since you cannot speculate on any alternative when country Y will intervene, only choice E remains as the most "neutral" choice with an uncertain outcome.
