I think it's C for this one.
A - doesn't maintain parallelism between a rise and threatening
B - again, parallelism is lost
C - maintains the structure - causing a rise and even a possible threat to
D - I was initially going for D. I can't point what's wrong here.
E - again, I was a little confused.
For D and E, somehow the "as well as" part put me off! Anyone want to point out why I am right/wrong?

A and D keep the correct parallelism ....that makes me confused about which one to choose. Perhaps, I go for A coz D eliminates the word " even", which somewhat shifts the emphasis of the impact " threatening global ecological systems"

B is the onle paralle AC. lets highlight the sentence:

Quote:
If industrial pollution continues to deplete the ozone layer, the resulting increase in ultraviolet radiation will endanger human health , (causing a rise in the incidence of skin cancer and eye disease), and and may even threaten global ecological systems.

I think D maintains parallelism -
causing a rise in X, as well as threatening Y

A -> awkward
C -> awkward
D,E - > 'as well as' is redundant

B is the best choice. Also, "will endanger... and threaten" is parallel.

I'd pick B.

First of all, I think the sentence need the conjunction and.
-will endanger human health and ................
I think C has the wrong word order.
A- threatening is no parallell to endanger
So, B it is.

I agree.

(Causing a rise in the incidence of skin cancer and eye disease) is a participial phrase that modifies referent noun increase.

(the resulting increase in ultraviolet radiation) (is) (causing a rise in the incidence of skin cancer and eye disease)
