If Jim saved a total of $90 in 3 weeks, how much did he save in week 2?

1) Jim's average savings for the first 2 weeks were $20
2) Jim's first week's savings were half of his savings in week 2 and a third of his savings in week 3

Let F be Jim's first week savings, S for second week and T for third week.

Can Stmt 2 be interpreted as F = (S/2) + (T/3)?

Rather, can somebody explain, what are the rules for interpreting statements to correct equations, especially for the statement above?

Let F be Jim's first week savings, S for second week and T for third week.

F=S/2=T/3

st 1) Not sufficient to find out how much Jim saved in week 2
st 2) using the above expression we can get Jims week 2 savings.

This is the way how I solve this question.
Let savings in 3 weeks is x,y,z respectively.
So x+y+z = 90
Statement 1 : average of first 2 weeks x+y /2 =20.
Not suff.

Statement 2: This means x+2x+3x=90
First week is half of second week and one third of third week is nothing but Jim had twice the saving second week and thrice the savings on third week.
This is sufficient to find how much Jim saved on second week.

Hope that helps.
