If mv<pv<0 is v>0?

1) m<p

2)m<0

I solved by plugging in a lot of numbers, this proved very time consuming. What's the best way?

(sorry. edited, I had to disable html)

I got

1) Sufficient

if m < p

Test: 4 / 5 | -4 / -5 for m and p, respectively
Test: V = -4 | V = 4

4 (-4) < 5 (-4) < 0 - This does not work
4 (4) < 5 (4) < 0 - This does work

2) Sufficient

If m < 0

Then M is Negative = -3
Test P = 4 and -4
Test V = 2 and V = -2

You don't need to test because you know that for M * V
to be less than 0. V has to be positive becuase M is negative.

I believe answer is B. [#permalink] New post 26 Feb 2007, 16:23
chud01,

Condition 1 is not sufficient. Did you mean that only? bcos you mention condition 1 is sufficient. I believe answer is B. So only second sufficient and not the first.
