Can you please explain why if NPP is divisible by 8, so NNPP is too?

Thanks

If N and P denote the non-zero digits of a four-digit number NNPP, is NNPP divisible by 4?

(1) NPP is divisible by 8
(2) NPP is divisible by 4

this is a Yes/ No question
a four digit number NNPP is divisible by 4 if pp is divisible by 4.
if pp is divisible by 4 the answer is yes
if pp is not divisible by 4 the answer is no

1. NPP is divisible by 8 ......( rule for divisibility by 8 says if the last three digits are divisible by 8 then the number is divisible by 8 .....and a number which is divisible by 8 is always divisible by 4 as 4 is a factor of 8) so statement 1 is sufficient.

2. NPP is divisible by 4 implies PP is divisible by 4
this gives an answer yes
statement 2 is sufficient .

Answer : D
