If p and q are positive integers, what is the value of q?

(1) q^{p-1} = 1 --> if p=1 then q^{p-1}=q^0=1, which means that q could be ANY positive integer. Not sufficient.

(2) p = 1. Clearly insufficient as no info about q.

(1)+(2) Nothing new: p=1 so q^{p-1}=q^0=1, which means that q could be ANY positive integer. Not sufficient.

Answer: E.
