If R is between (2) and (-2), which of the following can be greatest?
A. (1/R)
B. R^2
C. R^3
D. R^4
E. 32

Kindly check that the OA is correct As A can't be the correct answer. By the way, Quality of the question is very poor because the different options can lead to different answers.
If R = -1 ,
1/R = -1
R^2 = 1, Thus A can't be the right answer.

The best answer among the options is B.

Hope this explanation helps.

This may be 400-500 level question, if ,at all, it is for GMAT

The question asks.. "can" be.
1/R - can be as large as possible.
for eg. if R = 0.000001 => 1/R = 1000000

Ans A

Hi Fame.,

R need not necessarily be an integer.
If "R" is a small number such as 10^{-100000}, \frac{1}{R} is a very large number
