This is correct in any situation. if we assue w as a first and z is last then range is w-z which greater than 2. Similarly if z is the second and w is the first then range will again more than 2 even if other number are equal to z or greater than z. Same with w is third and z is last , the range is again greater than 2.
If S is a set of 4 number w,x,y and z. Is the range of the numbers in S greater than 2?

Range is difference between max and min value. when w-z>2 it doesn't matter whether w and z are max and min values.or middle numbers.... because difference between max and min always >2 ... so range >2
