I would for A.
B and E can be eliminated at a galnce since they are contradictory.
Out of A, C and D,
C is eliminated coz we are talking of de-forestation and not reforestation.. Hence it is out of scope.
D is more consistent with Politicians statement.. Deforestation stops and slows down tend to reflect the same idea.
Hence A which supports the biologists statement that if the Deforestation continues the koala will be extinct..
Please correct if Wrong..

i will go with A)
B and E are contradictory to biologist's claim.
C is out of scope and not inconsistent with Biologist's claim also.
choosing between A and D, I will go with A) since it is more in consistent with Biologist's view.

On first look i selected D .. then just to make sure other choices are wrong i went with if ...then equation and i ended up with choice B
Biologist:
if Forest deforestation continues then Koala will extinct
if deforestation stops then kola may extinct or may not
politician:
if deforestation stops then Kola will not extinct
(B) Deforestation is stopped then the koala becomes extinct. consistent with Biologist's claim but not with politician's

ooops, I missed D.
D states that deforestration is slowed down and koala survives. In the original statement, the biologist makes a claim about the pace of deforestration, thus, I assume that if it is slowed down, than koala might survive.
I go with D in the very last choice.

hmm.. on second thought I think D is correct
A is consistent with the biologist, but it's not inconsistent with politician. In order for both to happen, I think D fits best.

I thought this was a clear B, but see that there are so many different perspectives. Explains why this board is so good.

that means vice versa is also true?
if the Kola approach extinction, forest is disppearing at its present pace ..... cann't we have some other reason for Kola appraching to extinction

Not necessarily.
Let P=Deforestation
Let Q=Koala becomes extinct
The nature of the argument is If P Then Q
What you are saying is If Not P Then Not Q. This is incorrect. Much like math, when you compare the negatives(think reverse the sign) you will have to reverse the relationship.
If Not P Then Not Q is incorrect
If Not Q Then Not P is correct.
We cannot say that if deforestation is slowed, then the koala will survive. There can always be other factors that cause the extinction.
IMHO, the OA is right.

It may seem dense but it's going to be very helpful for reaching a high verbal score.
Let's symbolize the problem. D=deforestation, E=extinction
All the other details such as Koala and whatnot is not important.
