If x > 0, and y> 0, which of the following is equivalent to x/y sqrt y/ sqrt x ^2.

1) 1
2) sq rt x / sq rt y
3) sq rt x
4) 1 / sq rt x

5) 1/ sq rt y

Please explain, I plug in numbers and it got me the wrong answer.

If x > 0, and y> 0, which of the following is equivalent to x/y sqrt y/ sqrt x ^2.
1) 1
2) sq rt x / sq rt y
3) sq rt x
4) 1 / sq rt x
5) 1/ sq rt y

The right choice is (5) 1/sqrt y because
x/y sqrt y/sqrt x^2
= x/y sqrt y/x
= sqrt y / y
= 1 / sqrt y [because y = (sqrt y ^ 2)]

Hi Welcome on Board,

I think this way is better sq rt y = y ^ 1/2
--------= y - ^ 1/2= 1/ sq rt y.

in order for other people to understand your question, it should be written as (x/y)*(sqrt y/sqrt x^2).
