is there some trick I am missing?
minimize y, i.e. y=0
then x can be 3 because 3*3*3*3<100
and I guess 3.000001 would work as well but 4 is already +100.

B. x is greatest when y is zero. so 3<x<4.

greatest possible value of x is when y is 0. 3^4=81. 4^4>100. that means x must be slightly greater than 3. thats 2) !

I thought of it as a circle with radius = 10
X^2 + Y^2 = 10^2 where X = x^2
So x^2 = 10 for max value of x.(from 0,0) => x>3 & <4

Yes, I went to sleep soon after that time. "study drug" is not as effective as it is suppoesd to be. It makes me sleepy by 12 in the night and wakes me up only by 7:30 in the morning! I wouldn't recommend that anyway.

I heard adderall was pretty good. I heard good results from people who used it during exams. Still quite skeptical though. Surely, nothing beats a good night's sleep.

You need a prescription from your doctor. You have to convince him that you have adult ADD. It's nothing but an amphetamine. Don't take it unless you really need it. This is just from what I heard.
