If x and y are positive integers, what is the value of x + y?
(1) 2 raised to x * 3 raised to y = 72
(2) 2 raised to x * 2 raised to y = 32

Answer with explanation. I will provide OA shortly

A

1. 2^x*3^y = 2^3*3^2
x = 3, y =2 - Suff

2. 2^(x+y) = 2^5
x+y =5 - Insuff

tharunv, can you please check if the question does not ask for the value of (x+y). In the present form of the question, answer should be A only.

Sorry guys - my mistake - it is "what is the value of x + y" - a typo on my part - hope this clarifies things...
