If xy ≠ 0 and x^2y^2 – xy = 6, which of the following could be y in terms of x?

I. 1/(2x)
II. – 2/x
III. 3/x


I have no idea how to go about this pls help :-D

II and III

by substitution

If y = 1/2x; then x^2y^2 - xy = x^2/4x^2 -x/2x = 1/4 -1/2 not equal to 6
You can substitute the other two values and see that they can be equal to 6

Substitute X*Y with A and solve the equation A^2-A-6=0 . Solutions are 3 and -2 so X*Y=3 and X*Y= -2
