Re: If Z*T is < -3, is Z < 4 1 Z < 9 2 T < -4 [#permalink]
is it b?

stat 1 says that z>-9 . not much info here. insuff

stat 2 says that t>4. if this is the case, then z must be negative to make zt<-3 . and since z<0, that automatically means that z<4.

1 – Z < 9
2 – T < -4

1: Z>-9 Yes and No. Insuff.

2: T>4.

Since T is + Z must be negative.

Thus Z<4. Suff

statement 2:
T < -4

NOT T > 4

unless the original text meant to say "2 minus T < -4" instead of statement 2: T < -4

At first I thought those were negatives. But I don't think they are meant to be neg's, so I came up with E as the answer. Neither are sufficient. 2 tells you that Z is positive.
You still can't determine if Z is < 4.

I assumed they were negative signs as well.

Stmt 1: negative Z -9[/b]
Stmt 2: negative T 4[/b]

We know Z*T is -9
Insuff. Z could be larger or smaller than 4 depending on T

Stmt 2: T > 4
Suff. If T is any number greater than 4 then Z will always be less than 4.
