ignore AWA? [#permalink] New post 21 Dec 2010, 07:27
Hi All:

I took the GMAT twice and ended up with 5 for AWA on both the occasions. Now I am preparing for the third attempt, which is going to take place sometime in February.

I noticed that when I am not tired, I can do quite well on the mimic tests.

What will happen if I do not spend much time on AWA in order to save energy for Q and V?

Lets assume that I get 3 for AWA and over 700 for Q and V. Will schools offset the latest results to my previous results?

Thank you.

I don't think that's a good idea. I'd say just go over the AWA Guide by ChineseBurned on this forum and don't exert yourself too much. A 4.5 is a decent score on the AWA and if you score below that the schools might start doubting if your essays are your own, if there arises a disparity.

Don't ignore it - just don't spend too much time on it. I also do much better when I'm not tired and the AWA drains me unnecessarily. Just make sure you have a intro, body (with supporting arguments) and conclusion. As long as the structure is there you should get a decent score. I spent about 15min each on my essays and got a 5.5.
