(A) was the only one of the five-section orchestra who remained -- can be used only for a person
(B) alone among the five sections of the orchestra remained - correct
(C) were the only ones out of the five sections of the orchestra in remaining - collective noun (ensemble) requires a singular verb
(D) only of the five-section orchestra had remained - I think this one is missing a main verb
(E) was alone of the five-section orchestra when they remained - this changes the intended meaning

B

What is the OA?

thanks.
