IMBA - getting me where I want to go? [#permalink] New post 02 Nov 2009, 14:53
Ok, so I've only recently decided to try to apply for B-school. I had considered law school but in the process of studying for the LSAT I realized it wasn't for me.

So now I need some help. I love the international aspect of the IMBA and am actively looking at programs that require both study abroad and an internship abroad. The thing that's stumping me (and why I'm posting in this forum) is that I'm unclear on you can actually do with an IMBA in the real world.

Has anyone received this degree? What are you doing with it? My background is in liberal arts so banking/finance is definitely out for me. However, I would really appreciate any resources anyone has to provide that can help me realistically begin to build a career plan for after-graduation. This is important for me but also as an aspect to my applications.

Thanks for the help!

Booth has an IMBA, and from the people that I've talked to, it doesn't really add much value over a regular MBA...all that it does is tell employers that you want, and like, to go abroad. That signal is a positive for a lot of companies, but a negative for others.

I don't think the "I" will really give you any punch over the individual, who doesn't have the "I", but who has studied abroad for a term and did an internship abroad. The "I", however, will potentially make domestic recruiting more difficult (no data to support this claim, however...just an thought).
