IMD 2014 - Calling All Applicants

Hi everybody, hoping to apply next year to IMD. Wanted to discuss recently published IMD's 2012 placement results...

Average salary down by more than $10,000 ($142,412 to $131,566) and median salary by more than $20,000 ($140,648 to $119,049) since the placement report of 2011 !! What has happened?!?

Yeah it's an interesting report for sure - I think you will find that's what is happening across schools in Europe and probably the USA too though, given the tough employment picture. If salaries aren't dropping, they're probably not going up by too much.

Also, if you're looking at the US dollar figure for IMD, there are probably some fluctuations due to exchange rates in play as well.

I am hopeful that the timing is good. As the economic situation improves over the next couple years, hopefully there will be a rebound in demand for MBAs.

Very interesting.. The median salary has dropped almost 10% in euro as well. Considering the experience IMD folks have, it is surprising to see the salaries go down so much.

Both Marshmallow and I are matriculating in a few months and the placement report, as you'd imagine, is top of our minds. He has done a great analysis on his blog which echoes for the most part my thinking too. This is an indication of very tough 2012 for Euro zone and similar trends can be seen in other places too. you have to look at these placement reports with a grain of salt and I think they only have a limited shelf life due to ever changing economic climate. I can’t say I was surprised to see the report.

Hi guys,

I was planning on using tonight's respite to share my view on this as a candidate currently in the program. But I just saw on my feed that the question has just been addressed by IMD's marketing team: ask-imd-admissions-116514-100.html#p1231157

While I'm on the forum posting, I can only support a comment made a few days again suggesting that applicants try to meet on the day before the assessment on campus. It really helps to know a bit one another before D day.

Can someone tell the group as to how many are already admitted? I know that admitted folks have a way to pull these numbers. In fact, they can tell how many are admitted by country. It will be of great help!

There is no summary by country but most are either working in a country other than their own and/or are dual nationals. I think that if you offer something unique, there shouldn't be an issue at this stage yet.

Hello everyone,

first of all, congratulations to those of you who have already been accepted for the 2014 intake. And to all the others who are still waiting: my fingers are crossed for you.
I am myself in the middle of applications and will apply in R4 on August 1.

May I start a (slightly silly) quick poll among you IMD applicants:
Have you asked your recommenders to use the online recommendation link? Or did you rather send them the pdf version of the questions for them to complete? And do you see any advantages in one or the other (handling recommenders questions, ...)
